A woman who helped organize efforts to improve the water system in Flint, Michigan hopes to help Pittsburghers prevent a similar disaster from happening here.
Nayirrah Shariff hosted a townhall meeting at the Kingsley Center in Pittsburgh’s Larimer section Tuesday night. Shariff is director of Flint Rising, which formed after testing showed extremely high levels of lead in Flint’s water in 2014.
“I really want to use all of my power and skills to really prepare Pittsburgh for this long-term fight for justice,” Shariff said. “Hopefully, they can get reparations for what has happened to them.”
